1st STAGE
FROM MODERNDORF TO PASSO PRAMOLLO

The first stage of the 120K Carnica Ultra Trail will start from the Castle of Moderndorf, a typical Austrian village in the Gail Valley. From here you continue along forest tracks in dense woods climbing up to the Garnitzenklamm gorge, a true natural spectacle of the Carnic Alps. Continue along the forest track immersed in the secular Austrian woods up to Sella di Zille. From this point on, the route follows trail 403, the same route as the 177K Carnica Ultra Trail. You then arrive at Sella della Spalla along a path and then along a forest track and path up to GarnitzerAlm. From here on forest tracks and paths you go up to the homonymous saddle admiring the landscape that opens onto the Nassfeld area and the Crete of Aip. The fast descent to Lake Pramollo is on a forest track and from the lake you take an easy path that leads to Baita Winkel where the first base camp is located.

1st STAGE

FROM TIMAU TO COLLINA DI FORNI AVOLTRI

After the transfer, the second stage starts from the small town of Timau strongly linked to the events of the First World War. The route begins to climb right away along the path of the Carnic bearers up to the Casera di Pramosio. From here on the route will be the same as the 177K Carnica Ultra Trail and therefore you will go up to Lake Avostanis and then to the saddle above. Subsequently, with a path that is initially steep and then passable, you reach the Pal Grande huts, after which you go up to Monte Pal Piccolo, theater of the events of the First World War and now an open-air museum in memory of those events. From Pal Piccolo go down to the Monte Croce Carnico pass and from here along the forest track and path you reach Casera Val di Collina beyond which you continue along the forest track up to the Marinelli Hut. The view opens onto the Carnic Alps in their entirety, under the watchful eye of Monte Coglians. The descent takes place on an easy forest track up to Collina di Forni Avoltri where the second base camp is set up.

The third stage starts from Collina di Forni Avoltri and along forest tracks it immediately enters the dense forest until it takes the competitors to the village of Forni Avoltri. After crossing the inhabited area, along forest tracks you reach Pierabech and then along steep mule tracks and paths you go up the Fleons Valley passing by the Fleons di Sotto and di Sopra huts until you reach Passo Sesis, from which you can admire the entire valley just crossed and the splendid panorama of the Pesarine. The descent takes place on a path and forest track passing by the Pierfortunato Calvi Refuge until you reach the springs of the Piave river and then from here descend on an easy path up to Val Visdende. After the descent, walk a few kilometers of forest trails until you reach the base camp set up at the base of the valley.

FROM COLLINA DI FORNI AVOLTRI TO VAL VISDENDE

The third stage starts from Collina di Forni Avoltri and along forest tracks it immediately enters the dense forest until it takes the competitors to the village of Forni Avoltri. After crossing the inhabited area, along forest tracks you reach Pierabech and then along steep mule tracks and paths you go up the Fleons Valley passing by the Fleons di Sotto and di Sopra huts until you reach Passo Sesis, from which you can admire the entire valley just crossed and the splendid panorama of the Pesarine. FROM VAL VISDENDE TO SAN CANDIDO

The fourth and final stage takes the competitors up to the center of San Candido through forest tracks and mule tracks from the First World War. The athletes will go up the Val Visdende up to Passo Palombino from where they will descend along an easy path up to Casera Melin and from here along high altitude paths they will arrive up to Passo Silvella. From the pass located on the slopes of Monte Quaternà, the view extends over the valley just crossed and opens onto the Sesto Dolomites, which allow you to guess the point of arrival. You descend from the pass along an old mule track from the First World War to Malga di Nemes and from here you reach the village of Sesto on comfortable forest tracks. After the village, you enter the woods on the slopes of Monte Elmo and descend, always on comfortable forest trails, until you reach the arrival point in the town of San Candido.

FROM VAL VISDENDE TO SAN CANDIDO

The fourth and final stage takes the competitors up to the center of San Candido through forest tracks and mule tracks from the First World War. The athletes will go up the Val Visdende up to Passo Palombino from where they will descend along an easy path up to Casera Melin and from here along high altitude paths they will arrive up to Passo Silvella. From the pass located on the slopes of Monte Quaternà, the view extends over the valley just crossed and opens onto the Sesto Dolomites, which allow you to guess the point of arrival.
